Alexander Yaftali serves as Vice President of Portfolio Management & Research and Chief Compliance Officer of Monograph Wealth Advisors. He joined Monograph in 2015 and provides oversight across the investment, research, and compliance functions of the firm.
Prior to joining Monograph, Alex spent ten years at Dimensional Fund Advisors, most recently as an Associate Portfolio Manager, where he managed over $8 billion dollars across a variety of international developed and emerging market equity mutual funds and separately managed accounts. Alex worked closely with the institutional client relationship teams to develop and support client communications. In addition, he spearheaded global portfolio management projects to help make the firm’s investment process and delivery more efficient, transparent, and consistent across global offices to reduce operational risk to the firm.
Prior to portfolio management, Alex traded currencies and helped improve the firm’s foreign exchange order generation and execution process in order to reduce trading costs for clients. Alex developed a longstanding version of the firm’s foreign exchange order generation application, which increased order quality control and the speed and accuracy of order generation. He is highly skilled in complex investment management systems and brings tremendous expertise to the implementation of investment strategies for ultra high net worth clients.
Alex graduated with honors from the UCLA Anderson School of Management in 2013 and earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation in 2007. He earned a Bachelor of Sciences in Mathematics/Economics with a specialization in Computing from UCLA, where he graduated with cum laude honors in 2004. Prior to transferring to UCLA in 2002, Alex played Division 1 collegiate tennis at UC Santa Barbara. In his free time, Alex enjoys playing tennis and soccer, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
