Joseph Chrisman, CFA

Between 2010 and 2015, Joe Chrisman served as a Senior Vice President and Senior Advisor for LourdMurray, an independent advisory practice in Beverly Hills, CA.  During his tenure, Joe acted as the primary advisor to many of the firm’s largest clients.  He was also the Co-Chair of LourdMurray’s Investment Committee, responsible for architecting investment strategy for the firm’s 500+ clients and over $3.3 billion in assets.

Joe joined LourdMurray in 2010 to prepare it to become the investment arm of a multi-billion dollar family office, and to develop a wealth planning platform to cater to ultra-high net worth clients.  During his five year tenure, he helped the firm grow from $250 million in assets under management to over $3.3 billion. Joe’s expertise encompasses investment, tax, estate, philanthropic and retirement-planning strategies, and counseling clients on a variety of private equity and real estate transactions.  His client base included closely held business owners, executives of publicly traded companies, investment professionals, and retirees.

Joe began his career in 2002 at the investment company Dimensional Fund Advisors (DFA), servicing public and private pension plan clients.  In 2004, he transitioned within DFA to work strictly with Financial Advisor and Family Office clients, helping independent advisory firms develop investment strategies for their most complex clients, and construct business processes to run practices more effectively.  In 2006, Joe earned his Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and in 2007 was promoted to Regional Director, where he led the firm’s efforts consulting to investment advisors in Southern California.  Later in 2007, Joe engaged LourdMurray as a client of DFA, and also assumed responsibility for DFA’s relationship with Waterline Partners, an investment advisory firm led by Jeffery Coyle, the Founding Partner and CIO at Monograph Wealth Advisors.

Joe was recently elected President of the Beverly Hills Estate Planning Council, where he has been a member since 2011.  Joe is an accomplished rice harvester driver, and has worked for the family farming operation since graduating from college in 2001.  Joe earned a Bachelor of Science with an Applied Economics focus from Cornell University and he remains active with the Cornell Club of Los Angeles.  Joe played varsity tennis at both UC Berkeley and Cornell, and in the summer of 1998 Joe traveled through Europe playing on the professional tennis circuit.

Joe grew up in Ventura, CA and in 2011 he married his wife Kelly at her childhood home in Westlake Village, CA.  They now live in Hermosa Beach with their two sons, Joe-Joe and Colt, and daughter, Genrose.  When he’s not with the family, Joe’s favorite free time activities are playing tennis and surfing. – 310.496.7314
